For over 40 years, Donut Country has been a remarkable staple in the Murfreesboro, Tennessee community. If you frequent the quaint middle Tennessee town, you may have indulged in Donut Country's delicious treats or enjoyed one of its homemade sandwiches for lunch or dinner.
Owner and doughnut connoisseur Kristy Davis has the art of making doughnuts running through her veins. Davis grew up inside the walls of the small doughnut shop, learning resilience and her strong work ethic from her parents who built the business from the ground up. Davis graduated from Middle Tennessee State University and pursued her career outside of the business for 13 years before returning back to her roots. She purchased the business from her parents in 2017. Upon taking over the ownership of Donut Country, Davis kept many of her parents' ideals while also modernizing and enhancing the business to make it her own.
Donut Country prides itself on making fresh, homemade and hand-cut doughnuts daily. The shop's staff is an integral part of day-to-day operations, as the main production time is at night. Each night the bake staff arrives to begin the 12-hour process of producing doughnuts and pastries. The most noteworthy staff member, James Barry, has been the shop's head baker since the doors opened.
Davis says her goal is for Donut Country to serve homemade treats and meals, in a feel-good atmosphere that brings a smile to customers' faces. Donut Country uses its voice to improve the community with involvement with many organizations and fundraisers. Most notably, the partnership with the Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Center. In the three short years since Davis has taken over the doughnut shop she has worked hard to improve the customers' overall experience by updating the dining room, expanding business hours and adding new products to the ever-expanding menu in order to better serve the loyal and new customers.
