Donut Country aims to share the love – with more than just doughnuts

Chances are if you are a Murfreesboro native or even just a visitor, you've heard about Donut Country. Donut Country has been a staple in the community for over 40 years. It has thrived on the local love and now want to give back to Murfreesboro's local pet rescue PAWS.

Donut Country is partnering with PAWS for their highly anticipated event Doughnuts and Dogs. PAWS shelter is currently at capacity, and it has been struggling to adopt out dogs. Last month alone, its adoption rate was below 20%.

PAWS will be at Donut Country on Dec. 5 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with a variety of dogs of all shapes and sizes, all with one thing in common – the hopes to be adopted. Attendees are encouraged to interact and play with the dogs to hopefully find their perfect match. PAWS employees will be on–site to discuss adoption options with applications on hand. Donut Country employees will be selling their usual variety of doughnuts and pastries, both inside and outside, for attendees to enjoy while interacting with the dogs.

Donut Country has always had a passion for helping the community. "We want to give back to the community that helps is thrive, and help other local businesses continue to make such a huge, positive impact on the Murfreesboro area," says Donut Country owner, Kristy Davis. During the Doughnuts for Dogs event and for the duration of the day, 20% of all Donut Country's sales will be donated back to PAWS to help with shelter maintenance and fees.

"We couldn't do what we do without the support from our community, so we think it's very important to use our voice to help others," says Davis. Donut Country regularly donates its leftover product to various organizations in the community, and also offers doughnuts and pastries at a discounted rate for organizations or groups to sell for fundraisers.

Donut Country's main focus has always been to put a smile on customers' faces and what better way to do that than to combine the sale of delicious treats with the cute faces of dogs that need homes. Davis says, "We are very excited about our partnership with PAWS and hope to see a big turnout from the community to get these dogs into homes, and give back a portion of our sales to help continue the hard work fo getting stray animals off of the streets."

Doughnuts for Dogs will be at Donut Country's main location at 1311 Memorial Blvd. Head over to get some puppy love and support both of these instrumental organizations in the Murfreesboro community.
